About Moldova

The Republic of Moldova is a fertile country in the south-east of Europe , situated at the latitude of 47 0 (the latitude of Burgundy region of France ) and has a surface of 33.7 square kilometers. Moldova is bordered by Romania in the west and Ukraine in the east Most of it's territory is undulating with green hills and valleys
It's highest point rises at 429 meters above sea-level. A large forested (oak) area - Codru - covers the Central part of the country. The two main rivers, the Nistru and the Prut , border the country from East and West and flow from north to south towards the Black Sea . Moldova's most important assets are it's fertile soils and the bright sun which makes it ideal for the production of fine wines.

Winery Bostavan makes its wines of sweet grapes grown on own vineyards situated in one of the best vine-growing zones in the South of Moldova. Vineyards in Etulia cover 700 ha, in Onesti (aria controlled by origin due to peculiar qualities of the white grape varities) 500 ha.

Besides owning its own vineyards Bostavan winery is a state of the art modern factory with processing capacity of 20 000 tons of grapes per season. Wines storage capacities are of 15 M liters, and the bottling lines capacity is 12 000 bottles per hour. |
The winery is a recognized leader of Moldovan wine making industry for its outstanding dessert wines and successful red wines |

Cricova represents one of the most famous Moldovan wine making companies. Its brand name is well known far beyond country frontiers. Cricova's focus is fine wines and sparkling wines production being the unique Moldovan producer of sparkling wines by methode traditionnelle (champenoise).
Methode traditionnelle consists in secondary wine fermentation in the bottle for a period over 3 years. The company's peak production of sparkling wines by methode traditionnelle was 12 000 000 bottles per year. Very few companies in the world could ever reach this performance. |

Cricova has its own vineyards of about 300 ha situated in the central part of Moldova in the vineyard region Cricova and in the South in the vineyard region Cahul. |
The Cricova region vineyards are ideally suited for cultivation of white grapevarieties such as Chardonnay and Pinot which are the main raw material for sparkling wine production. The red grapes such as Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, etc. come from Cahul wine region famous for its full bodied red wines which assimilates the strength and joy of the southern Moldovan sunlight
Cricova winery was initially conceived as an enterprise of making elite wines in accordance with strict classical rules of European technologies. Therefore, the main secret of the originality of Cricova wines consists in the unique microclimate of underground cellars where are matured these noble drinks. The entrance in Cricova cellars, Cricova cellars are the integral part of the basic production of Joint Stock Company “Winery of Cricova” situated at 15 km in the North-East of the capital of the Republic of Moldova, Chisinau city.
Cricova cellars are ones of the greatest world natural cellars, situated deeply under ground on the territory of once overflowed limestone mines. .
